I’m finally getting somewhere in my novel. Maybe I’ve passed the hard part. Maybe I’ve hit my groove. Whatever it is, I was able to swarm through several chapters today with little effort at all. Whole scenes got filled in. I felt amazing while I was working on it, loving each word, and at the same time I felt sad because it can’t always be like this.
How do you feel when you hit a good patch while writing?

When I hit a good patch of writing I feel blessed. 🙂 You probably were very focused and the story seemed to jump onto the page. Been there. It’s good. It will happen again. Writing like life may be seasonal, cyclical, or maybe impassioned at times and other times the cares of the world push hard on us and hold us back. Don’t be discouraged. Live in the moment and your moment is good. Smile.

I am in it now, swimming with the current, savoring this stretch, even if I may be letting a few other things fall behind. I suspect my Internet connectivity issues of recent weeks played a part in launching me to this place – too frustrated to keep tinkering with those, I set to writing more. The story has been there just below the surface a long time and I think I just needed to let go of distractions.
May the groove stretch on long for you!

Ride the wave and enjoy it but don’t be dissappointed when it wanes. The next one will come along soon.
Some people analyze it and try to figure out what happens to get them back into the “flow”. There’ve been whole books written about the subject. Other people see it as mysterious and don’t want to force it. Me? I’m in the middle. I’m aware, but I don’t put too much thought into it. If it happens, it happens and I try to take advantage of it while it lasts.
